Success to Beat Dell, Acer Ready Against HP
Acer’s ambition to become the ruler of the portable device market growing up. Taiwanese PC producers are committed to ship more than 40 million notebooks in 2010 and became the market leader.
Acer is growing optimism after seeing the company’s performance was encouraging this year. Acer managed to surpass Dell and took over his position as ruler of the laptop market’s second largest world.
Referring to an article in Digitimes, citing Acer chairman JT Wang, Acer wants to ship about 40 million units in 2010 notebook, which also is expected to put them as a market leader.
But to be number one is not easy. There is still a tough opponent to face, namely Hewlett-Packard (HP). Similarly, HP is also eager to ship 40 million notebooks next year. Apparently the fight two PC vendors will be increasingly fierce.
Wang pointed out that the strategy of ‘war’ Acer different from its competitors. Acer market is more focused on small-medium businesses and consumers while HP and Dell are more focused on the enterprise market. It is expected that this strategy will be able to grow Acer’s performance.
At the beginning of this year Acer notebook shipment target in 2010 as many as 33 million-37 million units. However, due to the encouraging achievements in the second half of this year, Acer revises its target to 40 million units.
