Acer Prepare ‘Rain’ Android phone
Acer smartphone more serious business. Apart will launch its first Android-based handsets, Acer Liquid in early December, the computer company is also ready to remove the product with other smartphones in 2010.
Acer says is likely to release approximately 10 Android-based smartphone. “Maybe 8 to 10 devices,” said Aymar de Lencquesaing, Acer’s Head of Mobile Phone Products.
In 2009 this year, Acer’s already released a line of smart phones, but all rely on the Windows operating system. As the trend of rising Android phone up, Acer did not want to lose the opportunity.
“Clearly there is momentum for Android. Development faster than we originally anticipated,” said de Lencquesaing.
Currently, Android has a 3.5 percent share of global smartphone market. While Microsoft’s market share reached 8.8 percent, down from a previous 13.6 percent last year.
Acer itself had no intention of producing many phone models as do other vendors. Their targets ‘just’ mastered 6 to 7 percent of the smartphone market in the next 3-5 years. Year 2010 is estimated, the total number of handsets sold Acer reach 1 million units.
