Tens of Thousands stolen bank account, Cracker Imprisoned
Cyber crime increasingly sophisticated. Cyber criminals in the UK using the latest trojan virus in a plot to steal bank account data from tens of thousands of computer users around the world.
Through in-depth investigations, cyber police unit at Scotland Yard in England managed to catch the perpetrators, namely a man and a young woman. Conspiracy they use a virus called Zeus or Zbot to infect your computer and download data, including bank accounts, passwords, credit cards and so on.
Files retrieved from the tens of thousands of victims throughout the world, then stored on the server that the cracker. But the police do not know if they’ve managed to steal money from bank accounts of victims, or whether the data is also sold to third parties.
The two British suspects were arrested in the city of Manchester. This detention is the first time in continental Europe is related to the war against the criminals who use Zeus virus.
“Zeus Trojan is very sophisticated and have been used around the world to infect or accessing personal information. The potential financial losses that occur could be very big,” said Charlie McMurdie, of Scotland Yard.
