HP and Lenovo PC Sales Leads in Rural China
Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo are the two leading vendors in the PC sales in China’s countryside. So that the villagers from the countryside to the towns most have used two brands of this vendor.
“Most vendors now realize how important their market,” said Simon Ye, an analyst with Gartner.
Simon also added that not all targeting the consumer PC manufacturers to the villages. HP and Lenovo have done this, with marketing tactics that really boost their sales respectively. This year HP has opened around 7000 retail PCs in China, and they target next year to 10,000 retail.
HP itself is very diligent in doing visits to the universities, and IT Expo to show off their products. While Lenovo did with the movie promotion to the countryside. In the middle of the movie, they insert ads Lenovo, to instill new Lenovo brand image to the villagers.
HP now grown into the second-largest PC vendor in China, with 14.2% market share in the second quarter yesterday, according to IDC data. While Lenovo itself lead with 28.5% market share.
